If you are a holy reader of comics or planning to read for the sake of Iron Man, you might come across the differences between onscreen and offscreen iron man suits. No matter what you have read in comics or seen onscreen, you can still be a part of this iron man suits saga. You do not need to be a die-hard fan of Marvel to know all about the Invincible Iron Man.

Iron Man is such an awesome personality that we all know something about him. It won’t be wrong if I say while watching him onscreen wearing his iron man’s armor, you envied him a lot. What makes him such an appealing superhero is not a big secret. We all are fans of his style, wit, humor, and super-cool suits. Iron Man is a self-built character of the MCU.

His awesome creation of high technological suits and weapons makes him stand apart from the rest characters. We have seen the evolvement of iron man suits from prototype to nanotechnology with more sophistication in every movie. You can make a helmet simply by following this.

They were not only upgraded and laced with dynamic weapons but also built an arch of the Iron Man’s character. Each suite tells its own journey. We are equally attached to them as much as Tony Stark.

I assure you, this article is gonna be a treat for all the Iron Man fans who are still missing Tony Stark. Marvel Cinematic Universe has created the top-notch character of Tony Stark. And Stark created the legendary Iron Man’s armor. Now, it is time to go through each of the Iron Man suits and remember our own favorite hero.

Mark-I: The Saviour Suit

The Mark-I suit is that suit that redefined the character of Tony Stark. It was the first armor wore by Stark in the MCU. Stark built the suit inside a cave in mid of the desert captivity. He used whatever was available to him for making the armor. It was a prototype of the future suits. The Mark-I suit was more like rescue armor. It was life support for Tony. It was built heavily on iron material. The glaring fire-shot was the best technology in that suit.

Though, the suit design was rough and had limited weaponry resources. It was completely bullet-proofed. The joints and junctures of the suit were crude and rustic. Iron man’s helmet was dull. Even, the first jet-propelled flight of the suit is also unforgettable. It was not perfect for the long duration. However, it saved the life of our hero from the clutches of the Ten Rings organization. It started a new phase in his life and the journey of the Invincible Iron Man started. You can experience the thrill of Mark-I here.

Mark-II: The Shiny Silver Centurion Suit

The Mark-II suit is the upgraded version of Mark-I. The suit was in lustrous silver color. It was also a mark of Stark’s future ambitions. The suit was a reflection of Tony’s adventurous mood, intelligence, and uncertain temperament. And how can we forget that we got J.A.R.V.I.S too! The artificial intelligence of Jarvis had always helped Tony. It boosted the hundreds of technological functioning of the suit with ease.

Mark-II was a sleek and better-styled suit. Iron Man’s helmet had powerful scanning cameras. It had better jet propulsion and much more technological attachments. It had enough data to detect the location and people while flying. However, the suit could not fly to very high altitudes. This drawback led to the freezing of the suit. But, our hero used this flaw to defeat the bad guy in the end. You can create a faceplate also.

Mark-III: The Red-Suit

The Mark-III suit is the iconic suit of Tony Stark. The hot-red color and highlighted golden color has added charm to the suit. This is an upgraded version with certain modifications in technology, flying capacity, and sensors. The suit was designed for taking charge in big battles.

It also marked the role of Tony as a savior of the people. It had mini-guns on his shoulder part of the suit. It also had anti-tank missiles, fast and targetted bullets, and an intensified arc-reactor on his chest. The flying capacity was increased without freezing in high altitudes by using gold titanium alloy in the suit. This led to more endurance and strength of the armor. Here you can build one.

Mark-IV: The Party Suit

Well, by saying it is a party suit, I mean to state that this suit reflected the egoistic and party-lover side of Tony Stark. The suit becomes more red and shiny symbolizing the luxurious side of Stark. Tony was slowly dying due to the arc-reactor element.

When he failed to figure out the cure, he turned to his most favorite creation-The Iron Man Armor. He wanted to spend his last days in glory and fame. One of the most peculiar things about the suit was it had an in-built bio-degradable toilet. It had a removable helmet. He was subdued by War Machine. You can build it by using these instructions.

Mark-V: The Suitcase Suit

The Mark-V suit can also be called the suitcase suit. It is different from other suits because of its portability in a small suitcase. The innumerable steel plates of the armor can suit up within few seconds. It had better technological advancements. The speed and accessibility were at par.

The Iron Man Suit
A picture by Krikkiat, Shutterstock, Copyright-2021

It was easily accessible in emergencies. But the strength was not up to the mark. It got heavily damaged after few electric shots of Whiplash. However, the style of wearing this armor will remain one of my favorite moments. It is similar to Silver Centurion armor from the comics.

Mark-VI: The Avengers Suit

The Mark-VI suit is as close to my heart as the final battle scene of the movie. This suit has not only become his personality but also his life. The triangle-shaped arc-reactor and its powerful green energy is the highlight of this new suit. The amplified energy boosts the speed of the suit. It provides energy for more weaponry shots and higher mobility.

The Iron Man Suit

It has powerful laser beams well as greater resistance to electrical shocks. Even the god of thunder, Thor, could not harm him much. The suit can perform underwater as well. It had arm-mounted mini-missiles with a bunch of attached guns. And, Tony knows how to flaunt his suit as well. You can make this suit by following these tips.

Mark-VII: The Avenger Battle Suit

The Iron Man fans can surely admit that we fell in love with Tony Stark during this entire battle sequence. The stylish suiting of the Mark-VII was jaw-dropping. The suit was connected with bracelets of Tony. It was highly speeded and upgraded with the latest arsenals. The arc reactor was in round shape. The suit was red and robust.

It has rechargeable lasers within a short span of time. The rear and back thrusters boosted the killing and attacking while moving in speed. The suit was much durable than the rest suits. It stood against the Chitauri army without much damage. However, it got shut while going to the space zone.

Mark-XLII: The Chip-Controlled Suit

The Mark-XLII iron man suit was connected with sensor chips. These chips were implanted on Stark’s body. He could summon the suit parts with it. The efficiency of remote distance control is very high. It can be controlled and locked as per Tony’s commands.

The suit is more golden in color. Though the weaponry is regular. The suit has high-powered repulsor technology. And the automated assembly feature is the key highlight.

Iron Legion: The Super-Cool Suits Army

The Iron Legion Army was a collection of more than thirty Iron Man suits created by Tony Stark. Every suite has some modification in the technology, color, and functions. The suits were meant for the higher security of Iron Man’s loved ones and his surroundings. Stark built the iron legion to overcome his insomnia problem. Iron Legion was meant for rescue purposes during emergencies.

However, Tony destroys Iron Legion due to frictions between him and Pepper Potts. But, they were modeled for different purposes. Some of the famous legion armors are-

This suit was the swiftest one. It had the ability to reach in seconds. It was highly laced with the arsenals. The powerful thrusters were crucial for balancing while fighting and flying at the same time. Due to its high speed and swiftness, it was nicknamed as Shotgun.

Mark-XVI

The Mark-XVI suit had advanced radar detection technology. It had an electronic cloaking system. It also had color camouflaging technology. It was more similar to Mark-V armor. It had better technological advancements. The speed and accessibility were at par. The suit is also known as the Nightclub.

Mark-XXXIII

The Mark-XXXIII had hidden blades inside the arm-plates. It was named Silver Centurion. It had enhanced energy and efficiency. It was laced with deadly weaponry. It became one of the first armor wore by Tony against Aldrich Killian. And it was destroyed too. We all remember the celebration of Christmas by Tony Stark. Every suit was self-destroyed like crackers. Thus, the Iron Legions came to an end. Only Stark can afford such a lavish celebration!

Mark-XLIII: For Combat With Ultron

The Iron Man Suit

This suit combines the best features of Mark-VII and Mark-XLII. The Mark-XLIII has an infrared scanning system. It can scan difficult terrains. It also has small missiles and advanced weapons attached to the suit parts. It can perform patrolling and stand as a guard. It had endurance against the heavy damage.

Mark-XLIV: The Hulk-Buster Suit

The Mark-XLIV suit was huge and heavily loaded with a lot of technology. The suit was developed as a contingency plan. It was to control Hulk. This suit was powered by multiple arc reactors. It was controlled by a satellite named Veronica.

Tony wears a Hulkbuster armor suit to subdue the uncontrolled Hulk. The armor has jackhammer hands and sedatives. Also, the suit has replaceable body parts in case of heavy damage. This suit is worn by Bruce Banner in the Infinity War.

Mark-XLV

The Mark-XLV has a more shiny red color with chromed gold titanium. It has upgraded features of Mark-XLIII. The arc reactor is hexagonal-shaped. The new AI for this suit is F.R.I.D.A.Y. The suit’s durability is much higher than the previous suits.

It was able to defend itself from Ultron and its army. The suit was highly powered to detonate the machine during the Sokovia battle. The suit had powerful repulsor blasts which were capable of melting Ultron’s vibranium body. It would be a super cool thing to create your personal repulsor blasts.

Mark XLVI: The Civil War Suit

The Mark-XLVI suit had a vibranium-proofed barrier. It saved Tony from the vibranium-shield attack of Captain America. The suit had a retractable helmet. It allowed him to breathe in crucial moments.

It had miniature arc-reactors. It helped to boost the power and strength of the armor. The new technology of sonar blasts and flashbang blasts helped him to fight the Winter Soldier.

Mark-XLVII: The Silver-Red Armor

The suit is different from the rest because of the color combination as well as connectivity modifications. This suit is inspired by the Ultimate Marvel comics. It has a similar design to Mark-XLVI.

A picture by Anton Ivanov, Shutterstock, Copyright-2021

The new feature included wifi control without the need for a headset. The powerful detachable jets give immense strength to the suit. It has water-resistant features. The suit is controlled by F.R.I.D.A.Y.

Mark-L: The Nano-Tech Armor Suit

The Mark-L suit is my favorite one used in the Infinity War. It has surpassed all the previous armors. It is based on nanotechnology. The features are endless due to nanoparticle ability. It has unique features like suiting the armor just by clicking a button. It can prevent wounds by freezing spray.

The Iron Man Suit

It can reshape and recreate in lesser time. It has the ability to travel into space without much damage. It has a range of arsenals like missiles, guns, thrusters, cannons, and shields. All of these were charged with arc-reactor power.

The Rescue Armor

The rescue armor was made by Tony Stark for Pepper Potts. Potts wears this armor in the endgame war sequence. The armor color resembles the gifted birthday dress color of Pepper Potts. The suit does not lace with heavy weaponry.

The Iron Man Suit

Instead, it has uni-beam and ion-cannons. Nanotechnology enriches the efficiency of the suit. We might see this suit again in the marvel cinematic universe soon.

Mark-LXXXV: The Endgame Suit

This was the ultimate Iron Man suit because it had the ability to absorb infinity stones’ power and withstand Thanos attacks. Tony has built the suit when he took a break of five years after the snap. He combined all his previous suit features and made Mark-LXXXV suit.

The Iron Man Suit
A picture by Muhammad Amirul Azmi, Shutterstock, Copyright-2021

This was the most strong and capable creation of the Stark. It was sleek in design and had a uni-beam. Yet, it seemed heavy and muscular due to nanotechnology. The suit had a nano-tech-based infinity gauntlet. This was used to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the world.

The Comics Based Iron Man Suits

The Iron Man’s suit is not limited to the Marvel movies only. The Marvel comics also offer a range of Iron Man suits. They are slightly different. If you have read the Tales of Suspense comics series, you might know about the existence of different costumes made for particular situations. It has gradually transformed since 1963.

Movies like Avengers, Infinity War, and Endgame saw a new suit. They are more artistic and technological just like the Black Panther suit technology. Here, I am going to share some of my favorite Iron Man armors from the comics.

The Stealth Armor

This suit came into existence in the 1980s. The stealth armor was jet-black in color. It was used for sneaking around without getting caught. Why don’t you recreate one by following this! You can add your own colors.

The Iron Man Suit
A picture by TY Lim, Shutterstock, Copyright-2021

It had the latest technology for evasion and sneaking around without coming in the radar or sonar. By wearing this suit, the Iron Man was undetectable. However, It did not have much offensive strength.

The Thor-Buster Suit.

We have seen Tony and Thor fighting in the Avengers movie. Thanks to Captain America, who stopped the war between Iron Man and the demi-god. The suit was able to reflect the electric currents but it had also been damaged heavily.

The Iron Man Suit

However, in the comics, there is an entire interesting section for the fight. Iron Man comes up with a Thorbuster suit to match the thunder god. He used Asgardian crystal to power the Thorbuster suit. But, Thor managed to get off with it.

MK-II Iron Man Armor: The Golden Avenger

The golden-colored suit was made to appeal to the general public. It was Iron Man’s second suit with more advanced technology. It could be stored in a briefcase while inactive. The suit could be worn inside the formal clothes without being noticed.

A picture by Creative Stock Studio, Shutterstock, Copyright-2021

It was also equipped with a force-field generator. However, the flight power was not up to the mark. It had a chest-mounted uni-beam, hand drills, and electromagnet technology.

Hydro Armor

This armor was specifically made for underwater missions. The earlier suits were not much efficient underwater. They were noisy and leaked. Thus, the hydro armor was made to overcome these shortcomings. The new aligned-crystal process was used.

There were many weapons capable under ocean waters that were also attached to the suit. It had an electrical field of an eel, camaflouge ink-cloud, and torpedoes. There was an in-built escape suit within the Hydro armor for emergencies.

Telepresence Armor

The telepresence suit had cybernetic controls. This suit was in full virtual control through the cybernetic interface and battle computer. It was made when Stark was half-paralyzed. The chips were inserted inside his body to control the armor.

Stark used his mental impulses to give the commands. The suit controlled the functions and muscle control rather than the wearer. The remote headset acted like the brain for the telepresence armor.

Arctic Armor

The Arctic armor was made to carry out operations in heavy snow and cold temperature. The suit was in blue and silver color instead of red-golden color scheme. Stark went to the Arctic bunker. The suit had a hexagonal chest beam.

Crossing Armor

The Crossing Armor suit was specifically designed for combat purposes. It was an up-gradation of the Modular armor suit. Though the new suit had simple designs, it had bulky combat gauntlets. The repulsors were on the top of the wrists instead of the palm.

Prometheum Armor

In 1996, Iron Man comics introduced the Prometheum armor. This suit was made in a different universe. It had striking similarities with the original suit. It was also in red and golden color. However, the sensors were more technologically advanced due to the use of nanotechnology.

Sentient Armor

The Iron Man’s Sentient armor had cutting-edge technology along with the previous technology. It made the new suit more durable and strong. The chest beam was in a pentagonal shape. It also had energy absorption strips.

The self-life supporting system enabled Stark to live on food pills. The armor had an internal environment during hostile situations. But Tony abandoned the suit because it was affecting his health.

S.K.I.N Armor

The SKIN armor was the acronym for Synth Kinetic Interface Nano Armor suit. The suit was massive in size. It was different in appearance from the Sentient armor. It had around chest beam. The configuration of the suit and helmet design was also altered.

The armor was controlled by a cybernetic interface and battle computer. It could absorb direct as well as indirect energy attacks. It also had a new force field. The S.K.I.N fluid was lighter in weight. And it could be transformed into any desired shape. It was harder than titanium.

The suit had a sonic array, upgraded chameleon field, energy blade, missiles, and several spherical drone units. They were remote-controlled weapons. This was abandoned when Ultron easily copied the S.K.I.N technology.

Stealth Armor MK-III

The Stealth Armor MK-III was made to combat Black Panther. Black Panther’s anti-metal vibranium claws were very strong. The MK-III was made from advanced composite ceramics and plastic features. It could not be detected easily. Thus, it could withstand against Black Panther and Magneto in the fights.

Tin Man Armor

This suit was costume designed from the scratch. It had better scanning technology and a GPS. It could mark the targets. The suit had underwater capabilities like propulsion and satellite connections.

The Iron Man Suit

It could release energy field and deflector pulses by using uni-beam and repulsors. After getting commands, the suit gets transformed into automatic combat mode with weaponry functions.

Iron Man Armor Model 29

In 2003, Iron Man Vol.3 give us glimpses of the Iron Man Armor Model 29. Tony Stark was using it while serving as the US Defence Secretary. It had standard weaponry, uni-beam, and sonar technology. It also had concussion blast ability and zero-point energy.

Stark used a voice command to turn on the robotic battle combat mode. The repulsor shield and anti-tampering devices were used for protecting the armor.

Anti-Radiation Armor

This armor was made to contain high radiation. After capturing the gamma-rays, they were converted to create energy. It gave more power to the suit. This suit also contained a drenching system to clean the contaminated areas. The repulsors and uni-beam were a part of the suit.

Iron Man Model-30: Extremis Armor

The Extremis Armor was different from the rest suits. Stark had injected himself with a nanotechnology-based weapon to save his life. This connected his armor to his body. Now the inner parts of the armor could be stored inside the hollow bones.

It was controlled by mind impulses. This armor not only enhanced his healing ability but also strengthened the physical capabilities of Tony Stark. It allowed faster regeneration and repairing of the dead cells in the body.

The armor could heal itself due to nanotechnology. It had decentralized energy storage. This highly efficient suit was hacked by the Skrulls during the Secret Invasion line.

Modern Hydro Suit

The modern hydro suit was used by Wolverine. He borrowed this suit from Iron Man for his underwater mission. It had advanced technology and durability underwaters. The extremist features were the highlight of this armor.

The Bleeding Edge Armor

The Bleeding Edge Armor is an up-gradation of the Extremis Suit. The complete suite is stored inside his body. It is neurologically connected with his brain. It is mentally commanded. It can transform into any shape on his body. It can transform as big as punching gloves, missiles, and long guns due to nanoparticles. The power of energy-sword is damn cool.

The supercool features also include the Arc-reactor. It enhances Stark’s intelligence and super-human abilities. The armor is literally invincible. It can self-repair. The repulsors are located in the knuckles, chest, palms, and legs. The camera gives a 360°degree panoramic view. This suit was surgically removed when Iron Man retired from the superhero activities in 2012 comics.

Black Armor

The Black Armor was created when the Government tried to impose restrictions on Stark. His fellow rivals proved that Stark is using the Armor while under alcohol influence. Thus, a tracker was instituted in his arc reactor. This gave the officials power to shut down the armor at their own will.

The Iron Man Suit
A picture by TY Lim, Shutterstock, Copyright-2021

Stark abandoned his suit completely. Instead, he made a new black armor. Rhodes was using this armor. The suit was black in color. It had glowing panels, metallic gray gauntlets, and boots.

The cloaking technology could make the suit invisible. It could also withstand water pressure. It could ice-freeze the opponents as well. The weapons were mounted on the shoulder compartments of the suit. It could also release the electromagnetic pulse.

Anti-Mandarin Rescue Armor

In the Invincible Iron Man comics of 2012, the Mandarins kidnap Stark and Obadiah Stane. They were able to control his mind. Stark is forced to build a deadly weapon called Titanomech in Mandarian City outside of Mongolia.

With the help of Obadiah, Stark creates a new suit to escape from captivity. This suit has a similar red-golden color scheme. The new additions included gray metallic outer surfaces on the upper part of the suit.

Black and Gold Armor

The Black and Gold armor was heavily influenced by grey metal. The suit has an amazing fluid feature. It is in liquid form. It can be stored in a briefcase. Stark can mentally command it. It is less strong than rigid armors. The arc reactor is located in a round-shaped chest plate.

The repulsors are fitted all over the major body parts. Apart from the standard weaponry, it has tasers shots also. They are mounted in the wrist part. It can easily transform into different structures to fit into different combat styles.

Heavy Duty Armor

As the name suggests, the Heavy Duty Armor is huge and bulky in size. It is mainly focused on fire shots. The large rotary canon on the left side of the armor and advanced repulsor technology boosts its power. The right side of the suit has guns. It also has an automated Artificial Intelligence for combat skills. It has the capacity to fight against the Hulk.

MK-III: The Space Armor

The Iron Man Suit

The Space Armor has the capability to travel outer space. The backside rocket-thruster and modified helmet are made to sustain in deep space. Stark’s suit is nicknamed Space Knight by extraterrestrial people in space. It has A. I named P.E.P.P.E.R. Artificial intelligence is named after Pepper Potts. The suit has super propulsion speed in outer space. It can travel between the different atmospheres in deep space.

The Hulkbuster Armor

The Hulkbuster armor was used to resist and fight against the Hulk. Hulk took Stark responsible for the explosion of Gamma rays. This suit was capable to stop the normal Hulk. But it was not able to resist Extremis Hulk. The Hulkbuster suit was laced with advanced weapons to contain Green Blade.

The Iron Man Suit
A picture by Derek Teo, Shutterstock, Copyright-2021

Green Blade could emit powerful gamma radiations and cut through Hulk’s skin as well. The Hulkbuster armor was assembled and equipped by Stark. It had powerful shock repulsors and ultrasonics to contain the Hulk.

The Cold Iron Armor

The Iron Man Suit
A picture by Jake Fox, Flickr, Copyright-2021

The Cold Iron Armor was created by Tony when the Stealth Armor failed to defeat Svartalfheim’s king Malekith. The Cold Iron Armor had four large and mobile iron blades. It had weapons made out of fine iron. The Malekith’s army was allergic to iron. Thus it gave an upper hand to the Iron Man.

Model Prime Armor

The Model Prime armor has the same color combination of red and golden. But the design and pattern are simpler than the original suit. It is less complex and highly efficient. The major feature of this armor is that it can change shapes and transform into the desired weapon according to the need.

The Iron Man Suit
A picture by TY Lim, Shutterstock, Copyright-2021

It can change into as large as hulkbuster or heavy-duty armors. It can also transform into weapons like blades and blasters. It has stealth technology. It can automatically defend itself from sonic attacks. It can also project holograms. The armor is connected to Stark’s brain. A perfect armor for the invincible Iron Man.

The Saturn V Armor

Apart from the Space Armor, Stark had also created the Saturn V armor. This was carefully designed for successful traveling and landing on the moon. The normal suits took a long time. The spacesuit speed might crash the armor. So, the Saturn armor was created.
