Do you ask yourself, “Why do my apps keep crashing android”?  When you think about what causes your favorite apps to crash, then reasons like lack of storage space, too many apps using the phone RAM, and the phone doesn’t have the right app updates installed can be the cause.

Quick Ways to Fix Crashing of Apps in Android

Fortunately, this common Android app problem has some quick solutions. And the first way to solve the app crash problem on your Android device can be –

Clear Cache

Reason: Android apps can create large caches based on usage. While Android is designed to handle this on its own, sometimes clearing the cache can greatly improve your phone’s and apps’ performance.

Solution: You can wipe the app cache from the app store,> go into Android recovery mode,> and wipe the cache partition simultaneously.

  1. If your Android has a Bixby or a home button, you need to hold them down.
  2. To do this, first, turn off the phone and then hold the volume up button and the power button at the same time.
  3. If that didn’t help to boot into recovery mode, connect your device to your computer via a USB cable.
  4. Then try again.
  5. Hold the buttons until you feel the vibration and the Android logo appears on the device screen.
  6. Soon a recovery menu will appear on the phone.
  7. You can navigate the settings using the volume up or volume down buttons and select it by pressing the power button.
  8. Confirm your action and reboot your device using the “reboot system now” option.

Free up Space

Reason: Expand your storage Applications can sometimes fail when they need more space to perform their tasks. Lack of storage space can cause Android phones to freeze and also drain the device’s battery.

Solution:

  1. To fix this, open your Android settings and go to your device storage.
  2. Tap “Applications” from the list and delete any apps, photos, music, or other large files you no longer need.
  3. Or you can move bulky third-party apps to the SD card.

Updating Device

Reason: Keep Your Apps Updated App developers are constantly releasing updates to their apps. These updates contain bug fixes that should also resolve app crash issues.

Solution: Therefore, it is recommended to keep your applications updated.

  1. And for that, open the Play Store app on your device and tap on the image or letter icon.
  2. Select “manage apps and devices” from the list.
  3. Click “Available updates” to check available updates for the apps.

Updating the OS

Keep your Android OS up-to-date.

  • If there is any problem with your phone, install any available update and ensure your OS is up-to-date.
  • Go to Device Settings and select “Software Update” from the options.
  • Uninstall the faulty application. Some apps are poorly coded, issue buggy updates, or aren’t compatible with certain phones or Android versions.
  • Click “Download and Install” to see if any system update is available.

Bad apps can also cause other apps to crash, and removing such apps can help your situation. Now, if your Android apps are still crashing even after checking all these ways, it might be a problem with your Android OS.

Using Third-party Software

You will need a third-party tool to fix your slow phone. I recommend UltFone Android System Repair, a professional and trusted software that can easily and effectively fix over 150 Android system problems.

In addition, this tool also offers a one-click way to enter Android recovery mode, fast boot mode, and download mode on Android phones. To know how it works:

  1. Visit UltFone’s official page in your window and go to the “Recovery & Repair” tab.
  2. Click on “iOS Repair“.
  3. Click on the Download button.
  4. Install it.

Ultron

  • Run UltFone Android System Repair through your computer.
  • Tap on the “Repair Android” option from the tool’s main interface.
  • Then click “Fix Now”.
  • Select your Android device information on the following screen and click “Next” when done.
  • The tool will automatically start downloading the appropriate firmware depending on your device.
  • Once the download is complete, click the “Fix Now” button and then the “Continue” button, and the tool will then display instructions to put your Android device into download mode.
  • Follow the instructions, or you can use another feature of this tool, “Enter Download Mode, ” a one-click way to put your device into download mode.
  • Once the tool detects your device in download mode, the repair process will begin.
  • After the Android recovery process is completed, your device will reboot and return to start working smoothly.

Solutions to Fix an App that won’t Open or Closes on an Android

We have several different methods to try and fix this issue, and whether the app does not open at all or opens for a few seconds and then crashes, hopefully, one of the possible fixes will help.

Some methods may require you to change the app or even remove it, so now is a good time to mention that it is worth backing up any related files or work that might be stored in the app.

Some methods might be slightly different depending on the device manufacturer, as some will run slightly different versions of Android. I’ll be using a Samsung device, but whatever your device is, you should still be able to follow along.

Method 1

  1. The first method to try is to check for an available update for the app. If an update is available, installing it could help refresh the apps and fix some of the problems, especially if they are related to bugs on that version.
  2. To check for updates, go to the play store and the app page and see if there is an update option.
  3. Alternatively, still in the play store, tap on your logo or picture in the top right and then choose to manage apps and devices.
  4. Now tap on available updates, and you should be able to update the app here if there is one manually.
  5. Try this and after installing the update, see if the app works.

If it’s still not working or there aren’t any updates, we’ll move on to method two.

Method 2

The second method is to clear the App Cache. The App Cache is where temporary files are stored for the app, which could help.

1. To do this, first head to the main settings page.

2. Scroll down, look for the app or application option, and click on it.

3. Look down the list for the app that isn’t working properly and when you find it, tap on it.

4. Now look for storage, and then on the next page, it should say clear cache somewhere.

Note that we are looking for the option clear cache and not clear data.

5. Tap on clear cache and try the app again. Stay in these settings for the next method.

Method 3

The next method is to force-stop the app.

  • You can do this by going back one page from the last method, or if you are starting from scratch, the technique is to go to settings, then apps, and then the app that isn’t working.
  • There should be an option somewhere on here called force stop.

The next possible solution is to make sure your phone or tablet is updated.

  • Again, try the app and see if it has fixed it.
  • Try to see if the app has any requirements for the Android version.
  • To see if there are any Android updates, go to the main settings and look for the software update option.
  • Here you should be able to check for updates.
  • If updates are available, ensure you save your work before starting it, as it will need to restart your phone.

This brings us nicely to the next method: restart your phone if you haven’t done so already. It’s surprising how many problems a simple restart can solve, so it’s always worth a try.

Method 4

The next method is to think about any changes you may have made to your device that could have caused the problem to begin.

  • The final method is to uninstall and reinstall the app.
  • This includes things like installing a new app or changing some settings.
  • If you can pinpoint a change, you made with the problem occurring, try and revert these changes if you can.
  • Before doing this, ensure you have any app files saved or are certain of login details. For example, Reinstalling the app should fix it in most scenarios.

What to do if the App on your Android keeps Crashing?

Now the first thing you need to do is we have to reboot your android device and check if this solves the problem. Generally, some basic bugs are fixed by restarting the device.

App Data

  • All apps need at least some space to load and run on your Android device.
  • So once you restart your device.
  • The other option you can do is to check how much you have space left on your device.
  • So we go to “Settings.”
  • We will go to “Device Care” and then to “Storage.”
  • We will check how much space is left in our facility. For me, I have 21.2 GB of free space apparatus which means there is plenty of space left in my app launcher.
  • If you don’t have them, you need to delete their applications or need to delete files so that you can make room on your device.
  • From there, you can check what things take up more space on your device. As you can see, the videos take up to 13.3 GB.

Delete Videos

  • You can delete videos to free up space on your device. We will clear cache files and app data.
  • For this, I will go to “Settings” and then “Applications.” Let’s assume an app.
  • Open that particular app and go to “Storage.”
  • Then select “wipe cache,” and then select “wipe data”, and then “OK.”
  • This will clear cache files and data for the application.
  • Once done, open the selected app and see if it crashes again or not.

Sometimes there can be a fault in the current app version, and maybe an update to fix the problem. Is there an option available for possible updates? We are going to the “Play Store.”

Updating Apps on the Play Store

  • Open Play Store.
  • Click on the menu option.
  • Go to “My apps and games.”
  • Here you will be able to find out whether there is any update available.
  • If there is, tap update, select “update,” and update the app.
  • So once the app is updated, you can check if this solves the problem or not.
  • Now the next thing you can do is completely uninstall the app and reinstall it again.
  • But suppose you have apps like WhatsApp, then you must first back up all chats present in WhatsApp so you won’t release them.
  • Take a backup before changing your device.
  • Once you have a backup, then what can you do? You can uninstall the app.
  • So if you want to uninstall the app, go ahead and “uninstall.”
  • Then go to “Play Store” and install the app again.
  • Through this you can check if the app it will run correctly or not.

Conclusion

Why do my apps keep crashing android
A picture by: Azamat E, Unsplash, Copyright 2022

As you all know, one of the greatest things about Android is the huge number of free apps and games available for download. However, things turn to utter disappointment when you start facing apps crashing on your device.

There is no doubt that Android apps keep crashing, which is because of very obvious reasons in most cases, as otherwise debated. Smartphone manufacturers like to glorify their products by adding a million features. Still, there’s only a limit to which the phone’s RAM can handle, so overload on the device causes the apps to crash.

Sometimes, updating the Software becomes the last option as the current version may not be compatible with the application. Hopefully, it should fix the problem.
