Big reveals, trailers, important announcements, innovation, and shows: there was no shortage of video game fairs in 2022 either. We will tell you in this article which are the most important expos and conferences in the gaming industry.
This year has again seen numerous gaming conferences and trade shows where the industry will meet to exchange views on laws, technical news, and general information about the gaming market. This is a great opportunity to learn the latest in all areas and thus be one step ahead, be it online casinos or sports betting, i-gaming, or betting, everything the industry has to offer is represented here.
The biggest exhibitions and conferences
Fairs not only allow operators to present the main news to enthusiasts but also allow the public to express any concerns and propose interesting changes to make the online experience even more interesting. For example, all the games created by NetEnt or other equally important developers are presented. Also, this industry is closely related to all gambling game developers.
Here is a list of the most important gaming industry conferences taking place in 2022:
- ICE London;
- G2E Las Vegas;
- SBC Barcelona;
- SIGMA Malta.
The ICE London Games Fair took place from 12-14 April 2022 at the ExCeL London exhibition center. Industry representatives highlighted last year that ICE London 2022 was extremely important for the economic development of the gambling sector.
One reason for this is the post-pandemic focus. Industry members could change their strategies at ICE London. In addition to the development of new products, the focus is also on the services offered.
According to the organizer, a total of 700 exhibitors are expected. During the Christmas period, the entire ExCeL team worked on a solution that would do justice to an event of this magnitude.
On the one hand, the aim was to create a “safe and secure” environment for visitors, exhibitors, and employees of the event venue. Clarion Gaming wanted to avoid an overlap with the Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention in California (USA), which also took place in April.
G2E Las Vegas
Conceived by Reed Exhibitions in collaboration with the American Gaming Association, the Global Gaming Expo was organized for the first time in 2001. In its 20 years of activity, this fair has welcomed visitors from all over the world. Hosting the event during the fall season is the city of Las Vegas. Several VIPs appeared as speakers, managing to attract thousands of people. Among the most recent celebrities involved it is possible to remember, for example, Whoopi Goldberg.
This 7-day fair reserves ample space for audience engagement sessions. There is also an exhibition hall, inside which companies are allowed to present products and services. The last two editions were canceled due to the Pandemic, in 2021 the fair was able to present the latest innovations in the gambling sector, offering training sessions on demand.
The 2022 edition of the SBC Summit Barcelona exhibition and conference surprised everyone as the industry gathered to present its products, exchange ideas, and build new business partnerships.
The largest SBC event to date featured a 200-stand exhibition, two days of state-of-the-art conference content with nearly 400 speakers, and a busy schedule of networking evenings. Attendees particularly enjoyed hearing from this year’s keynote speakers, such as:
- Shay Segev – CEO, DAZN Group
- Molly Bloom – entrepreneur, author, and legendary organizer of high-stakes VIP poker games in Hollywood
- Carsten Koerl – CEO and founder of Sportradar
- Matthew Ball – Metaverse pioneer, pioneering technology authority, and bestselling author of The Metaverse: And How It Will Revolutionize Everything.
Born more recently than the Global Gaming Expo, Sigma Malta, hosted by the MFCC in Malta, is a very popular event. With a duration of 3 days, it is attended by affiliates, market-leading companies specializing in the provision of games, and operators ready to attract the attention of anyone looking for news and developments about the iGaming industry, casinos and technology in general.
The more than 200,000 people registered at the entrance, from more than 80 countries around the world, testify to the success achieved over the years. The last edition saw the beauty of 12,500 attendees, who were joined by 400 exhibitors (housed in customized stands of high visual impact), 2,500 affiliates, and 200 speakers. The key word was “innovation”, with operators encouraged to reveal to the public who they are the challenges of the sector.
Many events punctuate the video game industry every year. Its main players meet in the four corners of the world to show, discover, buy or even promote the video games of today and tomorrow, or simply to share their common passion for media.
