How can I delete my Instagram account permanently?

If you want to stop using Instagram permanently, it’s easy to delete. But know this is a move that cannot be reversed. In other words, if you haven’t already downloaded the data you’ve posted to Facebook or Instagram, it could disappear for good.

To delete an Instagram account, you should delete the account on Instagram through the methods suggested below. Learn how to access your Instagram data to encrypt, delete, and activate it with easy-to-do methods.

How to delete your Instagram account?

After your account is deleted from Instagram for good, you can sign up again with the same username ID within 30 days or add that username to another account as long as a new person has not taken it on Instagram.

Keep in mind that if your account is removed for violating Community Guidelines, you may not be able to sign up again with the same username on Instagram.

To permanently delete your account:

Before deleting your account, you may want to log in and download a copy of your information (like your photos and posts) from Instagram.

After your account has been deleted, you will not have access to Instagram’s Data Download tool, i.e., you can no longer download Instagram data through your deactivated account anymore, unless you decide to activate it again.

  1. Go to the Delete Your Account page from a mobile browser or computer.

After 30 days of your account deletion request, your account and all your information will be permanently deleted, and you won’t be able to retrieve your information.

During those 30 days, the content remains subject to Instagram’s Terms of Use and Data Policy and is not accessible to other people using Instagram.

Deactivating vs. Deleting: What you should know
